Share clips

This feature is an experiment that'southward simply available to a small number of creators. We're working to let more creators participate in the future.

Select and share a pocket-sized portion (clip) of a video or live stream with others by clipping it. Clips can be shared on social channels or via direct communications (for example, email or text).

Notation: Clipping videos is turned on by default. Learn how to plow it off.

Create and share a clip

Clips are between five-lx seconds long and are played on a loop from the original video'southward watch page.

  1. Sign in to YouTube. You need to be signed in to create a prune.
  2. Start watching a video.
  3. Under the video, click the Clip. If you don't see this, the video isn't eligible for clips.
  4. A create clip box will show up.
  5. Select the department of the video y'all'd like to prune. You can increment (maximum of 60 seconds) or decrease (minimum of 5 seconds) the length of your selection by dragging the slider.
  6. Give the clip a title (max 140 characters).
  7. ClickSHARE Prune.
  8. Choose an option for sharing the prune:
    • Social networks: Click a social network icon (for example, Facebook or Twitter) to share the video in that location.
    • Embed: Click the Embed push to generate a code you can employ to embed the video in a website.
    • Email: Choose the email icon to send an email using the default email software on your computer.
    • Copy the link: Click the COPY push to re-create a link to the video that y'all can paste somewhere else, like in an email message.

Don't allow viewers to clip your content

Creators can prevent others from making and sharing clips of their videos on YouTube. Hither's how:

  1. Sign in to YouTube.
  2. Go to studio.youtube.com.
  3. From the left, click Settings.
  4. Click Channel.
  5. Click Advanced Settings, and under "Clips," check Don't allow viewers to clip my content.

To make clips from a video or alive stream on YouTube, you must:

  • Exist signed in.

  • Videos made for kids
  • Live streams without DVR
  • Live streams over 8 hours long

Why are the Clips I created no longer bachelor?

If the original video is deleted or prepare to individual, the Clips will be unavailable. If the video is set to unlisted, the Clips will still be available.

If the original video violates our Community Guidelines, Clips created from that video will be removed.

I created a clip from a live stream that'southward not working.

Clips will show upwards after the alive stream has finished and is uploaded as a video. You can't create Clips from live streams without DVR or live streams over eight hours long.

Why are in that location ads on the clip I created?

Ads are eligible to testify upwards on Clips equally long as the original video has ads.
